A collection of 15 poems and short essays along with process work and family photographs that explore further Shepperd’s Spring/Summer 2020 of the same name.
Sons of Abraham is a study of the multicultural and multi-ethnic background of Shepperd himself. Through the text, he speaks on his identity within the Black community, his style's correlation through his paternal lineage, and the joys of citrus and colors. Filled with memories of his youth in California, you can begin to see the proverbial thread that ties everything together.
Hosted by the Wren’s Nest in Atlanta’s Historic West End, Sabbath Afternoon observes the question of what happens when the Black body undergoes intentional and restorative rest.
The afternoon featured a conversation in the amphitheater, moderated by Daryl L. Foster, about Sheppered’s visual memoir, Sons of Abraham.
An indoor pop-up shop where guests were able to purchase Shepperd’s book, designs, and other art objects.
Guest received complimentary lite bites and beverages by Nourish Botanica as they navigated the gardens and on-site installation.
The Shrine
An installation built to slow down time. Six wooden panels draped in mylar surround an arrangement of flora. The alien and the native textures help the viewer observe the wonderment of one’s self and nature.
